Miscellany

Physical Description
  • Material: Parchment
  • Pages: 68 (97) leaves
  • Leaves Format: not available
  • Dimensions: 345 x 235 mm

Detailed Description
  • Foliation:
Ten folios in the second quaternion of the second part (ff. 11r- 68v ), between ff. 23r- 24v , are missing.
  • Collation:
If d'Alverny is not mistaken, this codex is bound together with another codex of the 14th century , which was written by current Swedish hands and set in two columns, containing a theological tractate. Therefore, the actual last numbered folio should be f. 97v . The first section of the codex (ff. 1r- 68v ) is in turn subdivided into a first (ff. 1r- 10v ) and a second (ff. 11r- 68v ) part.
One quaternion or several quaternions are missing at the beginning of the second part (ff. 11r- 68v ) of the text.
We have reclaimers in the last quaternions, which consist of 12 folios.
  • Decoration:
The titles on top of the pages are depicted in alternating red and blue letters. The smallest initials are often ornated by a small red line. In the first part (ff. 1r- 10r ), large blue initials can be found, entwined with red and elongated with red and blue lines. In the second part (ff. 11r- 68v ), the larger initials are depicted elegantly in gold and various colours, according to the Gallic way. There, the smaller initials are either red or blue, entwined with lines of the opposite colour. The text is rubricated throughout. We have paragraph signs in either red or blue.
  • Layout:
Text is set in two columns.

  • Hand Description:
Text is written in black ink by many librarians from northern Gaul or Flanders.
