Detailed Description
  • Collation:
    A composite manuscript out of three codicological sections (ff. 1r- 12r , 13r- 44r and 45r- 53v ).
  • Condition Description:
    A folio is ripped out between ff. 36v- 37r (according to Fischer , two folios are missing). This was recognised by an annotator of the 15th century : "defectus hic commenti sancti Thome trium propositionum, nequam rupit folium et azinus verus".
    Another folio is ripped out after f. 53v , at the end of the codex.
    According to Fischer , the parchment is uneven, particularly bad in ff. 13r- 44r , and not fitting in size. The hair side is heavily yellowed.
  • Decoration:
    The initials are coloured in red and blue, the capital letters additionally entwined with lines. The small letters are coloured in either red or blue.
  • Layout:
    Text is set in two columns.

  • Hand Description:
    Text is written by multiple librarians. According to Fischer , their writing has similar character, changing under the influence of bad parchment from f. 19r onward. An exception is the commentary on De Anima (ff. 39r- 44r ), written in smaller letters, nearer to current script.
  • Provenance:
    On the flyleaf I, on top of the page, we have an ex-libris from the 15th century : "Liber Beate Marie Virginis in Fonte Salutis".
    According to Fischer , the codex probably originates from a French university. The "azinus" in the remark on the missing pages (see "condition") supports this.
