Miscellany

Physical Description
  • Material: Parchment
  • Pages: 415 leaves
  • Leaves Format: not available
  • Dimensions: 345 x 239 mm

Detailed Description
  • Collation:
    A composite manuscript out of two codicological sections: section A (ff. 1r- 378v ) and section B (ff. 379r- 415r ).
  • Decoration:
Section A has initials in gold, ornated in various colours. The initials of each tractate have their title illustrated with pictures in the Gallic way. Section B has initials in blue and gold, separately. Alternately, within this section we also have initials in red or blue, decorated with little lines in a possibly Anglican way.
  • Layout:
Text is set in two columns.

  • Hand Description:
Text is written by at least two hands.
Section A is apparently written in a large Gallic script, section B is written by a different hand.
  • Provenance:
On f. 402v we have: "Explicit Epistola Aristotilis ad Alexandrum regem, suum discipulum. Anno Domini 1288 factus fuit; anno 1000 et 200 et 88 fuit completus iste liber". Lacombe states uncertainty about the significance of the date: It may have been transcribed from another copy of the text.
