lines to the page
Hand Description:
One Spanish hand in Judeo Arabic; the manuscript is carefully written in Rashi-script.
There is some confusion between the letters ك ، ب ، ف / ב , כ , פ as well as between د ، ر / ד , ר . On the other hand, ح ، ج / ה , ג or ي ، ت are clearly distinct. The last mentioned letters, however, are repeatedly confused (mainly at the beginning of the 3rd person imperfect), presumably due to grammatical uncertainty.
For a better placement of the text in two columns the scribe repeatedly omitted the last letters in a line, especially if there is a personal suffix. When he omits the last letter he often gives a small point instead. In other cases he completely filled the lines by variing the script width or by adding some smaller letters to the last word of a line.
Provenance:
There is a close relation to Ms. Modena, Biblioteca estense universitaria, 13 which is proofed philologically but also by the similar content order.
