Miscellany

Physical Description
  • Material: Parchment
  • Pages: 266 leaves
  • Leaves Format: not available
  • Dimensions: 400 x 250 mm

Detailed Description
  • Collation:
Rud notes another text before the first item, i.e. the Physica of Aristotle with the commentary of Averroes . He adds, that something is missing from the beginning of this text. The text is not mentioned in Lacombe and may have been bound or stored together with the present texts at an earlier time.
  • Layout:
Text is set in two columns.

  • Provenance:
We have a similar codex (Durham, Chapter Library, C. I, 17 (A)), which together with this one forms a two volume work. The signs depicted in ff. 1r and 266r show, that both codices belonged to the Salvayn family, which left the county of Durham in northern England in the beginning of the 15th century .

According to Rud , this is only the second item of the codex, the first being Aristotle 's Physica with the commentary of Averroes , but with some text missing at the beginning. However, he gives the signature as "C. I. 17.", which suggests, that the codex may have been split up, later.
