Averroes, Long Commentary on the Physics

Physical Description
  • Material: Parchment
  • Pages: 173 leaves
  • Leaves Format: not available
  • Dimensions: 285 x 210 mm

Detailed Description
  • Foliation:
    1-102,102a,103-172.
Folio 103 was first forgotten in the manual foliation and afterwards signed out with a "102a" (cf. f. 103r ). Thus there are 173 folios in this manuscript and not 172, as Lacombe suggests. The DARE-foliation represents the actual counting of folios.
  • Collation:
No script except of some annotationes in Gallic from the 15th century on f. 171r- 171v , which seems to be wrongly bound.
  • Decoration:
Tall initials in red and blue in an Anglican way, decorated with elongating lines of the same colours. Littler ones always in blue, decorated with red lines. Numbers of the books painted in red and blue on the top in the margin of each page.
  • Layout:
Text is set in 2 columns.

    54 lines per column.
  • Hand Description:
Text is written by three librarians. First hand on ff. 1r- 157v from the end of the 13th century. The rest of the text is written by two hands, an Anglican and probably a Rhenish, both dating from the beginning of the 14th century.
