Detailed Description
  • Collation:
    A composite manuscript out of eight codicological sections: section 1 (ff. 1r- 15r ), section 2 (ff. 16r- 20v ), section 3 (ff. 22r- 33v ), section 4 (ff. 34r- 42r ), section 5 (ff. 43r- 69v ), section 6 (ff. 70r- 136r ), section 7 (ff. 137r- 178r ) and section 8 (ff. 179r- 228r ). Lacombe gives nine codicological sections, splitting the above section 6 into two (the second beginning with f. 102r ).
  • Condition Description:
The two last folios of section 2 and the three last folios of section 5 are missing.
  • Decoration:
Section 3 and 7 have titles in red and blue on top of the pages. In section 2, 4, 5 and 8, spaces for initials are left empty. Section 3 and 7 have initials in red and blue, entwined and elongated with lines. In section 6, some initials are red, some left empty. In section 3, the paragraphs are signed in red and blue. Section 4, 5 and 8 have no rubrics, spaces for rubrics are left empty. Section 6 is rubricated, the paragraphs are signed in minium. Section 1 is written in a fine script with red ink.

Text is set in two columns, except for ff. 101v and 200r - 201r, where we have long lines.

    F. 21r is without script, f. 179v possibly as well, according to d'Alverny .
  • Hand Description:
Text is written by many librarians, according to d'Alverny : relatively careless. In section 8, we have different hands even within a section.
  • Provenance:
The codex once belonged to Sancta Maria Laudunensis.
On flyleaf I a hand from the 18th century added: "cotte xxxxxx" and "n° 337 Collectio operum medicorum". Similarly, "xxxxxx" is added on f. 228r .
    On f. 228v , a hand from the 16th century added "D. B.".
