Detailed Description
  • Foliation:
    An antique foliation with ink up to f. 154r . Additionally a complete modern foliation with a pencil.
  • Collation:
    Bound layers: 1 binion, 4 quaternions (one with an aditional folio), 17 sextenions (one of them missing tree folios).
    Horizontal reclaimer right side in the bottom of last verso-folio of each layer.
  • Condition Description:
    Sometimes the parchment of a folio is broken.
    On f. 48v somebody cut into the parchment and wrote the word "NAXE".
  • Decoration:
    Titles written in red ink. No initials, but spaces left for them. Geometrical figures on ff. 32r- 64v and 140r- 162v .
  • Layout:
    Text is set in 1 column on ff. 1r - 162v and 190r - 195v . The rest is set in 2 columns.


  • Hand Description:
    Copied by a lot of hands.
    Different handwriting types: Gothic textualis (f. 1r- 162r , 169r- 210v and 226r- 244v ), Gothic textualis Kurrent (f. 210r- 213v ), Gothic hybrids (f. 214r- 225v ) and Gothic hybrids Kurrent (f. 162v- 168v ).
    Most of text seems to be written by hands from the 13th century. The Gothic textualis on ff. 226r- 244v is from the 14th century.
    The two treatises on ff. 168r- 168v and ff. 244v- 245v were later added by a hand from the 15th century.
  • Binding Description:
    Parchment with belts.
  • Acquisition:
    One can find a seal belonging to the Biblioteca Colombina. A registration number and a note of purchase are missing.
  • Provenance:
    On f. 31v one can read: "completa fuit translatio huius operis Viterbii a fratre Guillelmo de Morbetu ordinis predicatorum, XV kalendas junii, anni Domini Millesimo CC sexagesimo octauo".
    Once the manuscript had the signatures "BB-150-15" and "7-150-140".
    According to María del Carmen Álvarez-Márquez , this manuscript belonged to the heritage of Don Pedro Gomez Barroso , archbishop of Seville from 1379 to 1390.
