  • Pages: I + 226 leaves
  • Leaves Format: not available

Detailed Description
  • Decoration:
The first initial on f. 1r is decorated with an image of a scholar. Its elongations surround the page and are pleasantly ornated with playing children and animals. Other larger initials are partly in red, partly in blue, the smaller ones the other way around. A series of siliques extend into the margins on both sides. Titles are written on top of the pages and coloured in red and blue, except ff. 222r- 225v . On f. 222r the initial letters are painted with minium, the first one partly in black, partly in vermillion. These indicate an Italian provenance. On ff. x5 and 54v , one can see basic geometric drawings and on f. 95r a larger and more elaborate drawing in the margin. F. 213v has a small bird drawn at the top of the page.
  • Layout:
Text is set in two columns.

36 lines to the page in ff. 1r- 220v .

About 43 lines to the page in ff. 222r- 225v .

    Ff. 44r- 44v , 110r- 110v , 157r- 158v , 211v- 214v and 221r- 221v are without script.
Ff. x1 , x4 , 213v , 226r- 226v and x8 are without main text, but contain some script and/or drawings (e.g. a table with numbers and information about the provenance).
  • Hand Description:
Text is written by one elegant Gallic hand, except ff. 222r- 225v .
  • Provenance:
On f. x4 one can find: "Tercia tabula philosophie lib. I". This may indicate provenance from the Bibliotheca Ducum Mediolanensium in Pavia.
On f. 226v we can see: " 1393 , die primo februarii, philosophia naturalis M. Beltramni de Salso extimat[a] florenis quatuor auri. Ambrosius generalis bidellus studii".
