Detailed Description
  • Decoration:
    Little titles in red on the top of the pages. A lot of initials, 22 all in all, e.g. on ff. 1r , 3v , 6v , 10v , 12r or 55v . They are carefully done in chalky covering colors, decorated with white ornamental lines, located in squares of ultramarin with white ornamental lines. In the interior decorated with spiral petals with stylized three-part palmetto-like or broad notched leaves, contours are emphasized by white lines, while the shadows are made in darker nuances in the local color. Besides vermilion and pink, ultramarin blue, light brown, purple, yellow-brown and gray have been used.
  • Layout:
    The Text is set in 2 columns on ff. 30r .

    A column has 41 (sic!) lines there.

    On ff. 31r - 84r the Text is set in 1 columns. 30-31 lines to the column.
    De causis (ff. 85v- 88v ) is again set in 2 columns, while the commentary is written in the margins, also in 2 columns. Up to 60 lines of commentary, textus: 23 lines.
    The last two folios 89r- 90v are set in 6 columns, about 64 lines to the column.
  • Hand Description:
    A lot of hands worked on the manuscript, writing an Italian book-minuscule.
  • Binding Description:
    White parchment over cardboard, golden print. A red lable made of leather on the back, golden letters: "Aristotelis metaphysica."
  • Provenance:
    In the index of the library "Bibliothek der Burg" in Buda, made in 1686 by Julius Pflugk one can read, that this manuscript has been there and had the signature Cod. Ser. n. 370.
    The code came from Italy to Vienna in the first half of the 18th century.
    A stamp on f. 30v : "k.k. Hofbibliothek"
    Once this code was "Rec., 494".
